Circe

A beautiful story of Circe, a witch from Aeaea, a minor goddess in Greek Mythology. She is the most known for the epic poem Odyssey, written by Homer. Circe at first turns the Odysseus’ crew into swine, and then Odysseus, with his crew, lives for a year on her island before he returns home to his wife Penelope on Ithaca.

The story begins in her parents’ house and continues on Aeaea. We learn about her family, Helios, her siblings, Glaucus, Scylla, Minotaur, Odysseus, Penelope, Telemachus, and others. The novel tells a story from Circe’s point of view, and I like that she is presented as an ordinary person with feelings and flaws. I recommend Circe to readers who like retellings and mythology, especially Greek mythology.
